Curator and Acting Director
As Curator of The Dunlop Art Gallery, Regina Public Library from 1997 to 2001, Anthony Kiendl programmed two permanent exhibition spaces, serving a nine-branch public library system in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. From September 2001 to February 2002, Kiendl served as Acting Director, following the departure of his mentor, Director Helen Marzolf. The Director is responsible for the overall programming and operations of the Dunlop Art Gallery, and provides leadership in the visual arts community in Saskatchewan and nationally. From its inception in the late 60s with its first purpose-built permanent exhibition space in the Regina Public Library Central Branch, commissioned by Head Librarian Marjorie Dunlop, and designed by Kiyoshi Izumi of Izumi Arnott and Sugiyama, The Dunlop Art Gallery developed a reputation for compelling and challenging exhibitions and programs that ranged from international contemporary art, to exhibitions on pop culture and folk art, under the library principles of access to information in all its forms. The Gallery is also linked with an international film program through the Regina Public Library Film Theatre.
