From 2002 to 2006 Anthony Kiendl served as Director, providing international leadership in the field of visual arts education, professional development and experimentation. In this role Kiendl was responsible for the overall program and operations of the Banff Centre’s internationally renowned Walter Phillips Gallery, the Visual Arts residency program, and the fledgling Banff International Curatorial Institute. Located in the historic Banff National Park, in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, Kiendl supported an average of 225 international artists per year through creative residencies, conceived and led thematic residency programs, an active publications program, and other arts professional development initiatives.
